The Franziskushof, once a renowned project of charitable and collaborative work between ecumenical Franciscans and the homeless in the form of a self-sufficient and self-help commune, was closed at the end of 2009.
However, the insolvency proceedings were not initiated because the project was insolvent and over-indebted, but because it had generated more income for over a decade than its non-profit status would have allowed, the initiators explained.
